I started moving into my new shop this week ... about double the size of my old shop !! gonna help out a ton having the extra room to actually work comfortably and not trip over everything.

Looks nice.

I got a new shop too, going to have to move a few things to install the sheet rock. I started using it early.

Can I give you some free advice? Give the walls a coat of white paint before you move a lot of stuff in. Even if you only cover four feet up from the floor things will be brighter, and you can cover the rest later. Bob

Wish you would have looked for a shop in California. I need some work done. Looks like you did good. Enjoy it and keep us up to date on future projects. Mark.

As much as I am going to miss your old shop, this new one looks like its a much better fit for you. Good luck in the new place and I hope to visit it and my roadster real real soon.

Nice shop. I like the long and narrow setup because in the winter you can close off some of the length and make it easier to heat the area where you are working.

I notice you have electrical outlets and air outlets along the wall. Good idea. I can't see the detail well enough to see how the air connectors are mounted, but just in case you haven't done it already I would suggest that you take the air off the line from the top side of your main line. That way you don't have as much chance of getting water or grit in your project. Like this:

Re-cover the bottom 1 foot with 1/2" plywood. When you ram the welder or tool box against the wall it dont blow out the sheetrock. ws

I covered my walls with 1/2" plywood rather then sheet rock. Easy to hang thngs on it.

Shop Rules 1 & 2 from my personal experience.
1) Don't let your kid park his project in your shop. He's too busy with his girlfriend to work on his car.
2) Don't let your wife know there's some office space in the building. I really look forward to a shop full of scrapbooking women plugging in crock pots on my work bench.
If you violate either of these rules, your shop gets smaller very quickly.

My brother suggested that I do that and I thought it would be a great idea too. But I am going to have a sheetrock party and put up sheetrock.

Only will be going up 8 feet to meet code. My ceiling is 13 feet high, put a 2-pole Direct-Lift in.

I highly recommend that if you have room for a lift, put one in. You won't be sorry.

Because of the codes and the very real possibility of fire, (Torches, welding & and paint mists) I would not have any wood in the shop. Or as little wood as possible.

I doubt Flop has to worry about these rules, especially #1 at his age!
