Default 1940 Windshield Seal Info needed

I have been looking for a Mercury windshield seal 99A-7003110 for over a year. Nobody has one in stock, so today I called Dennis Carpenter to see if they have any production scheduled or possible other seals that could be adapted. The customer service guy was great, said there was nothing scheduled in the foreseeable future. He did say that a seal for 1940 car and '40-'47 pickup should be close. It is a two piece seal (L&R) and is part 01A-7003110EC. This does not have this groove for the stainless surround and is considered an economy seal. So my question is, does anyone know the part Number for this application that has the groove and, here's the big one, does anyone have one they would sell? Ideally the Merc seal would be best, but I'm trying not to become dead in the water on this. Thanks, Dave

Thanks, I actually saw his ad on the auction site but haven’t reached out. You’re really happy with the glass?

Very . I was concerned about shipping glass across country but it arrived perfect and very well protected . I’m about ready to buy 2 model A tudor glass kits .

You might try to see if 41-48 passenger car might work. The 42-47 pickup uses the '40 Ford gasket so they will not work. Some of the 41-48 window gaskets had the groove for stainless trim. If you are a V-8 Club member and have the roster call Tom O'Donnel in Illinois. He's an excellent resource for Mercury stuff and may know what might work.

Windshields on the '41 - '48 cars are larger than '40 and quite differently shaped.

I am not a V8 club member, but am wondering if anyone might have contact information for Tom O'Donnell in Illinois that they could share in a PM.

Kube I agree that the '40 windshield is different than the '41-'48 if you are talking about a '40 ford. The OP has a '40 Mercury which is totally different than the Ford.
