It's pretty easy to find foreign exchange rates on the internet; in this case 1 AUD = approximately .73 USD.

If I were selling a Ute I would have included some pics taken from the rear. From the three pics shown it looks like most other 34s.

I would give it garage space though.

For some strange reason, the picture disappeared from my previous Post, so here it is again. Once eBay is finished, the picture will disappear. This is a great old Aussie Ute.

The original 34 coupe ute that Lewis Bandt designed and built and he kept is at Castlemaine Victoria in Rod Hadfield's museum.

He was killed while driving it in 1987 .

His story here....

http://www.fastlane.com.au/Features/First_ute.htm

I think why the guy with the ebay ad is not showing the rear when it was in one piece before being dismantled is because it a hack job out of a coupe.

See the farmer job overhanging wood tray.... the original coupe ute was all steel moulded with the body lines.

And that first pic is not the same car as the 2nd on.

Hope those bidders have inspected what they are getting .

Check the lack of dent in RF fender, wiper missing, rego label missing, inside mirror gone, chrome horn, horizontal bar in grill missing and the whole car is a different colour, etc. that ain't just lighting.

Even the grille badge has risen 3 inches and the spare has grown some tread.

Hi Everyone, I was just checking in on this thread, and went back to the original advert.

There are more photos added. I warn you, you might regret looking at them.

Currently at about $14,800 US. Yikes!

Further to POOCH's comment about the Lew Bandt 34 Ute that is on display in Rod Hadfields Museum, here is a picture of Lew Bandt " the father of the Coupe Ute" with his "retirement" present. The workers at Ford couldn't find a genuine 1934 Ford Coupe Ute, so started off with a 1933 Ford Sedan and tried to make it into a Coupe Ute. The rear section, including the roof line and side windows are all wrong in this recreation which is a pity. As mentioned in an earlier Post, Lew was tragically killed in this vehicle. It was subsequently rebuilt with parts from a 1934 model, but still retained all the wrong parts in rear body section. On the Australian 1933 and 1934 Ford, the Coupes and Coupe Utes had different moldings on the doors than the Sedans had. This vehicle has Sedan Doors, as that is what it was made up from. It is a pity that a correct vehicle could not be located, as Ford Australia have continued to illustrate this Ute until lately with their latest offerings. Many Falcon Ute brochures show this 34 Coupe Ute in the background. When an Australian model maker was wanting to add a 1934 Ford Coupe Ute to their model range, Ford Australia told them to model the scale model from this vehicle, and as a consequence, the model while very well done is all wrong.

For those people wanting to know more about the Good Old Aussie Utes, this Book is a must have. It is available from Graffiti Publications in Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia.

Wow Pooch, you are a hard man to please!
How many of these original Coupe Utes still exist if you really wanted one??
When new, they came as the std.steel side [ Type 302] & the wood overhang well side [ Type 304 I think] which this one appears to be.

Far preferable to the repro one Ford Australia made up with Lew Bandt years ago , but then any Early Ford V8 Ute looks good compared to the Commercial based Canadian & US Pickups.

The vehicle at Rod Hadfield's museum in Castlemaine Victoria is not an original Model 40 Coupe Ute.. this vehicle started life as a 1933 Ford four door Sedan. Its body number is 40S71 and was made in August 1933... Correct Utilities have body numbers starting with 40LD*** Closed cab Ute production did start in August 1933 and were made from a Coupe cowl and doors (not a Sedan cowl and doors). The initial closed cab Utes had a vertical rear cab with sharp outer corners. The new all steel Coupe roof was incorporated in early December 1933. All up there were 528 Coupe Utes made (including early square rear roof design) Utes could be purchased as straight side 302 type or well side 304 type All Model 40 Utes were Standard trim with no cowl lamps and only one horn.

The 34 Ute on eBay is the genuine thing, not made up from a Coupe.
