Re: 56 Vctoria Vin Decode
I just purchased a 1955 Ford Victoria. It has a trim code of ATD1. I know the car has the overdrive transmission, power seats, factory AC ,power steering, and power brakes. It also has a knob above the radio marked "Speaker". Can anyone tell me exactly what the D1 means?

Re: 56 Vctoria Vin Decode
Are these the numbers as stamped/shown on the VIN tag? I don't think I've seen a sequence of numbers such as this on a US-produced vehicle. Since you are in France, perhaps yours was built outside the US? Just a guess on my part.

Re: 56 Vctoria Vin Decode
Canada used a different numbering system than the US. Cars in Australia have the same codes. If you go on the Australian Customlines and Mainline page on Facebook there are guys on that site that can probably help. Failing that a member on here with a Canadian Parts manual may be able to decode for you.

Re: 56 Vctoria Vin Decode
For those of you who want to decode your old Ford, this publication was produced by Amos Publishing. They were advertised in Cars & Parts magazine many years ago called "Catalog of American Car ID Numbers 1950-1959". It is an invaluable source of information. As Cars & Parts Magazine is no longer published, you may have to locate one on eBay or similar? This volume not only covers Ford Products, but GM & Chrysler also. |
