Mag wheels for 1940 Ford
Does anyone know where I can buy mag wheels for the wide bolt pattern on 1939-40 Fords?

Re: Mag wheels for 1940 Ford
Hi Bill; The Wide [10 3/4"] pattern was 36-39 Fords with 1/2" Studs. The early circle trackers used this pattern. NOTE: Later and present circle trackers use this pattern with 5/8" inch studs. The modern wheels are available from racers BUT, they will have 5/8" bolt holes. Hope this helps. Newc

Re: Mag wheels for 1940 Ford
The 10 3/4" pattern is the standard for dirt track race cars today, thus many different wheels are available today---but they are all aluminum, not magnesium. Halibrand made magnesium wheels many years ago, odds are finding a full set near impossible. The problem with the current aluminum wheel is the availability of wheel widths/offsets you can use. Said another way, the wheels may be "Special Order".
As stated earlier, the current aluminum wheels are made to be used with 5/8" studs, yours are 1/2". Many years ago, special lug nuts were available to use the larger hole wheel on a 1/2" wheel stud. I haven't seen any offered in years-----but they would be fairly easy to have a set made. |

Sorry for the gap in my post, my lovely wife doesn't like to eat dinner alone!
In Chattanooga there are many, many old time racers. Some may have the lug nuts you need in the scrap drawer---it's worth asking around. Also, there should be several dealers for the aluminum wheels, you probably need to talk to some about your wheel needs. |

I happen to think during one of my many trips to the "Necessary Room" during the night-----contact "OoltewahSpeedShop" on the Fordbarn. He is a neighbor of yours and a stock car racer. He might be of some assistance.

Re: Mag wheels for 1940 Ford
The 1936 to 1939 Ford car wheels have a 5 lug X 10 1/4" bolt pattern.
