I put a 12 bolt Chevy in mine .Piece of cake .I wish I would have put in a Ford. Its a simple swap no matter which you choose .Also I am in the process of installing disc brakes.I guess it all depends on what your preference is .JMO

Early Ford rears (57 to ???) 9 inchers out of a Ford pickup are a direct bolt in and have the benefit of the same bolt pattern. The spring perches are supposed to be in the correct position.

I installed a 9" from a 1972 Ford F-100. It has a track-lok with 3.25 gears in my 1953 F-100. This was a direct bolt in. I cut off the shock mounts from the 1972 axle, and used the original F-100 bolt on shock mounts. Drive shaft, brakes, and parking brake worked with ease. I am running a mild flathead engine and the stock tranny. It runs freeway speeds well.
