Strange jet on bottom of B carburetor
I have a B carburetor and it has a strange jet on the bottom of the lower bowl.... it has a brass fitting with a needle style adjustable jet sticking thru it...... any ideas as to what it is for ? I have a half dozen B Carbs and none of the others have it....it looks just like a stock B Zenith carb..
I was thinking this was some sort of adjustable main jet ?? ideas ? What ya think ? turn it to closed and open it up 1 1/2 turns ? Joel |

Re: Strange jet on bottom of B carburetor
There were a lot of non-Ford variants of the Model B type carburetor, I think mostly for industrial engines and Farm machines. Some of them have adjustable main with adjusting needle through the drain hole there, and these would be easy to transplant to a Ford B carb. Adjustable main with control at the carb would make sense for a stationary application.
I don't see any reason to use such in a car, particularly since the B carb has its own adjustment right on the dash. |
