Randy Gross's drums
Randy Gross supplies excellent cast iron drums at a good price. He can also install them on your hubs and turn them. The only thing he can't do is arc your shoes. Arcing brake shoes makes dangerous dust. You can probably come close with a sanding block.

Re: Randy Gross's drums
Glenn,
One of our members just obtained a complete arcing machine; I used it last week to arc a pair of shoes for one drum. Sure is wonderful to have access to this machine and it makes the job so much easier. Ron |

Re: Randy Gross's drums
"Randy Gross supplies excellent cast iron drums at a good price." SO WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY, HOW, on the drums? Inquiring minds care to know. Cast iron is the way to go. Not steel. But which friction material to use with these drums? Woven or not woven. I don't know the name of the other [non-woven] kind of friction material. skip. |

Randy Gross advertises on the aoohga site and I think I've also seen him on the barn, good reviews, also has a converted f-100 steering box.

Re: Randy Gross's drums
There was a spam ad on here last night that was deleted advertising them. Maybe this is a residual from that?? Don't matter I suppose??
Skip, I will say that the one thing that has created some concern in the past with reproduction cast iron drums is that it appears the drums that Mr. Gross sells are not ductile iron. Does that matter? I don't know, but the drums that Snyders & Brattons sell are ductile, --and Dept of Trans evidently requires ductile on OEM stuff. Some say they have run Mr. Gross' drums without any problems so it isn't necessary. My position is I have never had to use my auto insurance policy either, ...but I'm not sure I want to say I haven't had any problems so I would be OK without it!! Just food for thought......... . |

Re: Randy Gross's drums
I have Mel Gross' cast iron drums and relined brake shoes on my Town Sedan and have been very happy with them after 4 years and about 7,000 miles. Have heard nothing but good things about these components from him.
