Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
Maybe its just the way the pic looks, but it looks like the wrong hood.
Lots of good parts there, but I dont see 2500. Reminds me of a few nights I came home with my eyes looking in different directions and my crank hanging out. |

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
I will probably pass on it. I don't want a four door. And I have been looking a 39 coupe a old guy has. It's one or the other the wife says.

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
There we go!
1 grand would be max. All the wood for a fordor goes for $3000.00, engine rebuilt on the cheap side 2000.00, interior 2500.00. So with nothing else and if the car was free your already into it for 7500.00. I know that stock A's are not worth as much after restoration as what you put into it but 2500 for the car that needs wood is too much.

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
That Sedan is a 160-A ( Standard Sedan ) it would be mfg about May or later. Standard Sedans had NO Cowl lights, the Dome light was ROUND and mounted in the middle over the back of the front seat. Standard Sedans are becoming harder to find as most folks when restoring them do a conversion to the 160-B Town Sedan. I hope the next owner keeps it as a 160-A Standard fordor .

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
Nope, It has 2 too many doors. I don't dislike 30-31's just do not own any of them. Dad is currently looking at an older restoration late 31 coupe with an engine that needs a lot of work. I am hoping that if he buys it we can have it back on the road by the end of August. That will give me about 45-60 days to get it back in some sort of running condition. I have not seen it yet, so I do not know how much work it actually needs. From what Dad has told me I think it is about $1000 overpriced. Time will tell. Rod

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
Buy it, add 3000 to ship it down here to Australia, then sell it for 12000. It will sell for that price, and even with the difference from exchange rates, you'll be at least 5000 in front.

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
Bargain! in my country. In the USA not so much. i have seen bodies in that shape sell for $5,000+ but again, you have to find the buyer for it.
Get the 39 coupe instead.

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
Mike, With all due respect, you are not even close! The wood is probably well over $5000 (Body wood, top wood, sills, 4 drs, and seats) New short blocks 3440. interior 2500, seats springs 500. Top? glass, 300 ? painting and body work 2000, Trans and rear 500, incidentals 1000. Trires, brakes and wheels 1000. Never mind Clutch, floorpans, rusted rear fenders, and missing doors, and electrical system.

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
I offered him 500 dollars and he did not like that. He gave me the rare care speech. I told him that he asked me what I thought. And I told him. I just left it with telling him to call me if he can't sell it. And my offer would still stand.

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
I know it's worth more that 500. But all I would want it for is parts.

Re: Had a guy try to sell me this today
Go to Fordwood.com select fordors look at prices. Wait I'll save you time click here; http://www.fordwood.com/fordors.htm
Better yet check out the Brattons catalog; it's like this Body wood $1600, top wood $985, sills and subrails, $795. Door wood, $1215, F. Seat assy $52-72, F. backrest $72, R. seat $52 R backrest $52. I just spent $60.00 alone for the proper hardwood for just the rear belt line for my sons car. Still have to glue it up to thickness, rent a planer to get the thickness right and a router for the fitment details. and that is only about 1/30 th of the wood needed. There is a difference between doing it and doing it right. One can always get scrap wood lying around for free. Reread Brent's posts about costs and time involved with the wood. As for interiors here is a price list for cheap kits; (please note I placed this under the doing it right line) http://macsautoparts.com/model-a-for.../MDA/cc/33231/
