What are we doing for the 4th?
Parades, car shows, club drives, Beach, Mountains, pool, just stay home?
I think I'll put in that old, bad condenser and have some fireworks of my own when I turn the ignition off!

Staying off the roads so I don't get killed by some drunken jerk.

There are car shows and parades in South Florida. Plenty to do.

Re: What are we doing for the 4th?
My wife and I will be in a parade on the north shore of Long Island. After the parade, the local fire dept. will have a big barbeque. We've been doing this for a number of years and it's a lot of fun.

Re: What are we doing for the 4th?
If I can get this motor back together in the next few days I might have the old girl back in one piece by the 4th. If I succeed I'll take her for a spin. If not, I might just spent another day in the garage, unless the Mrs has other plans for me......

Re: What are we doing for the 4th?
Our club (Napa Valley A's, a MAFCA chapter) will - as we do every year - participate in the Napa County Fair Parade in Calistoga. We usually end up between the motorcycles and the horses (which is better than being between the horses and the motorcycles).
Afterwards, the club will have a picnic at - where else, this being Napa - a local winery. My avatar is from the 2009 parade. Happy 4th of July.

Re: What are we doing for the 4th?
With the fires only 4 miles from the house ... here is hoping that no one shoots off fireworks this week !!
Click here to see some of the heros: http://www.airplane-pictures.net/pho...h-54-skycrane/ These guys have an 18,000 lb payoad at sealevel ... In this application that is about 2000 gallons of water or about 16,000 lbs ... have to allow for the lack of oxygen at 9000 feet and the high temperatures. The ones I remember from 1968 were all GREEN though !! They hover over the water, drop the hose and fill the tank ... a lever opens the bottom of the tank and drowns the fire below. This is one of the good things that came out of the Vietnam "Police Action". Four fires burning on this side of the rounded mountain ... more on the other side and to the left. It was raining lightly a while ago ... but with the rain comes lightening strikes and more fires ... just what we need!! Click thumbnail to enlarge the photo... Re: What are we doing for the 4th?
Here in sunny Southeast Ohio, there is an antique tractor show about six miles from our house in Beverly. Lots of old tractors and stationary engines show up and also a few old Fords. We'll polish up the 28 Phaeton and drive over for some fun and relaxation. Love to hear those old one lungers with the huge flywheels pop-popping away. That is a whole different hobby, and the owners are great to talk to!!

Re: What are we doing for the 4th?
Going to pick up my Dad (88 years old) in my Model A and go to the local car show. We'll have to stay in the shade due to the 100 degree plus temps. here in southeast Kansas. Ron

Re: What are we doing for the 4th?
The Fox Valley Region, MARC will be travelin 30 miles to Newark, IL for their 4th of July Parade. Newark is a smaill, middle America town where the kids decorate their bikes, pull their wagons with the family pet on board and some even drive their decorated lawn tractors in the parade. After the parade the volunter fire dept. puts on a great chicken and pork chop lunch.
