Default Wide belt crank pulley for an 8BA

I have found a '49 Mercury crankshaft pulley. It is for the wide belts. I would assume that it will work with my truck pumps on an 8BA. Anyone have knowledge to the contrary?

Yes, it will work.
I have the same wide belt Merc pulley on my 8BA using the 8BA crankshaft. Here's a photo of what it looks like. It's pressed steel. The 49 and 50 Ford pickups also used the wide belt. Not sure about 51 foprd pickup. Disregard the note as I was sending info about cutting it down to one sheave. There is one for sale on Ebay right now for an unrealistic price. C&G Parts also has them for sale.....pricey. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1949-50-51-5...bRIyTQ&vxp=mtr and

Is it a single sheave or a dual???? Is it steel or is it cast. My 8BA Merc motor came with a 2 sheave steel pulley. I cut off the front one as I only need the back one in my 31 roadster and I am using the 8RT truck pumps. This motor also came with the truck oil pan with the removeable panel to service the oil pump. It did have the 4" crank in it with EAC heads and adjustable lifters. Were Merc engines use in trucks???

Sure, in Canada, but seriously doubt if they had 4" cranks or adjustable lifters.

Merc engines were not used in trucks.

I'm sure glad I restored mine in the '80s when no one was really interested in the flatheads. I bought my wide belt pulley for $5.00 at a wrecking yard. Those were the days!

I believe that the Merc engine (in this case, the 49-53 variety) was an available option for the big truck line. It was essentially the Merc long block but built with all the truck bolt on parts. Seems like I've seen this mentioned in a copy of the truck sales brochure.

The original dual sheave crank pulley was made of pressed steel. We stock them too.
