Re: Photo of a Model A showroom in 1931 from The Henry Ford Museum
Peters,
They knew "cut & polish" way back then! Chief's old school buddy, Bill Ogan, was the Ford dealer in our small Oklahoma town. Chief told me that the fenders & dipped parts WERE very shiny, but the bodies looked like he & I sprayed them in the driveway. Brent disagrees with Chief's observations, maybe the small dealers got the lesser quality paint jobs. The body paint was NOT horrible, Chief knew that I could shoot synthetic enamel QUITE well, from years of painting farm equipment. A GREAT auto shop teacher taught me all the prep & techniques. Like ridin' a bike, I think I could still do it with synthetic enamel. Any takers?? Bill W.

I've talked to a lot of old Harley dealers, and they told me that before they put bikes on the showroom floor, they drained all the oil out of em' Even on the new bikes back then, the check ball in the oil pump wouldn't seal. Happy Harley days!! |

John Rude, my auto shop teacher said, "If it LEAKS oil, you didn't do it RIGHT & I'll only give you a C- on the job"!! Bill W.

If it was a Lincoln dealer, there would be oriental rugs under drip pans.
