Default 1951 Mercury Coupe

City: Lockport
State: IL
Price: $45K

1951 Mercury
Mild Custom Coupe
This 1951 Mercury Coupe has undergone a complete restoration including bodywork and paint, upholstery, engine, transmission, and electrical.

BODY and PAINT:
The car has had professional metal work done and contains no bondo. Body and paint are like glass, and the custom Black Cherry color is simply spectacular. This color has gotten attention anywhere we've brought the car, and we've gotten many requests for the paint code from people who have projects of their own. We consider that high praise for the color.

UPHOLSTERY
This is a completely custom-made upholstery set, hand-made with genuine leather. Carpet and headliner are also brand new and professionally installed. Flawless. Trunk is also finished in the same theme as the interior.

ENGINE
The engine has been brought down to the bare block and rebuilt. The block has been hot tanked, magnafluxed to check for cracks, bored 0.30 over, decked, and the valve seats have been ground. The block has been modified for an active oil filtration system with modern oil filter. The Mercury crankshaft has been machined and new bearings have been installed. Engine has new pistons and rings, new timing gear, new oil pump, machined camshaft, Offenhauser aluminum heads and manifold, and a Holley 390cfm electric choke carburetor. Aluminum radiator with stainless steel overflow tank. Red's True Dual Headers and Smitty's Mufflers. Brand new gas tank and fuel lines.

TRANSMISSION
The original 3-speed w/overdrive transmission has been taken completely apart and rebuilt with new synchronisers, shaft bearings, throwout bearing, clutch and clutch plate.

ELECTRICAL
The majority of the wiring has been replaced with modern grade cloth wiring, and the system has been upgraded tastefully to a 12-volt setup with chrome alternator.

All new glass seals all around, with all new side window glass and new windshield glass. All chrome has been rechromed to show standards, and stainless has been buffed and polished.

New front coil springs and shock absorbers all around, as well as new brake lines, rebuilt master cylinder, and rebuilt front slave cylinders. New stainless brake lines.

Chrome Coker wheels, baby moon hubcaps, and wide whitewall tires complete the look. We have a set of fender skirts that were painted at the same time as the body to match; however, the rear tires are slightly too wide for the skirts to fit. The skirts are included in the sale of the car and can be modified to work with the existing wheels. We prefer to leave this choice to the new owner.

Asking $45K or best offer. We will also entertain trade offers.

Thanks,
Nick

Can you tell me what, if anything, was done to the chassis?
