I know it is quite hard to establish a value on anything without seeing it. I figured I would ask any ways as I am totally new to the T world. A transplant from Oldsmobile
I found, through a friend of a friend a 26 2 door T that has been off the road since 1944. The car is admittedly solid but will need a full interior and mechanical restoration. A 12v starter has been added so it is not 100 percent bone stock....
Any ideas on a fair price?

I think it will depend on where you are at. Around here T's don't sell for much. Start real cheap. Around a 1,000 dollars. If you don't get it cheap. You will end up with way to much in it.

Based on the sparse information about it, a grand to $3000 depending on what's missing and how bad or good it is.

By the way, that one that sold in NJ is a 1927, not 1926.

Hummm off the road since 1944. There were no 12v systems in 1944. why would anyone converted to 12v back then? I would say you have been given false info.

Pretty much have to see it to even establish a range. If the paint is original but with "patina" I would leave it that way, assuming it is not too far gone. It has gotten to the point that hired professional paint jobs cost more than the Model T is worth. If you can paint it yourself (if you choose to) and have the huge amount of time it takes, that is another story.

You can do a full restoration. There are plenty of parts available, and lots of information on what to do and how to do it. BUT you will spend more than the finished car will be worth. I'm not saying don't restore it. I'm saying be aware that if you ever sell it you won't get back what you spent on it. If you're aware of that and want to do it as an interesting project, that's fine. On the other hand, if you'd just like to have a Model T to drive, the best approach is to buy one that's ready to drive. Not necessarily a show car, just a good, solid driver. Let the other guy, who did the work on it, take the financial hit. A $1500 project will cost you more than a $6500 driver.

it is lol how everyone rebuilds their engines every year out of habit and buys upholstery kits even if they do not want to.

I know the 26 and 27s are different from earlier models but what is the difference in a 26 and a 27 ?
