Default 1934 pickup battery access size

I have a reproduction plywood floor panel that was made to fit a 1933/34 pickup. It almost fit but I do not think the battery access opening is correct.
Should the hole be big enough to change the battery with out removing the entire floor? This new wood only has a 4"x 8" oval shaped hole that is much too small to put a battery through.
What size opening is correct? What is used to cover the hole?
Thanks, Any help would be appreciated.
