Re: Vacuume wiper paddle grease?
After I posted this I read the bit on Trico wipers that is posted here. That lead me to this;
http://modelabasics.com/wiper.htm But this is a dry start up and Vaseline sticks in the back of my mind. But Tom was told no on that. ? I think we will go with the Vaseline for start up the do the oiling as outlined in the link. Thanks MarkG The Model A Ford Works 502-282-2212 |

Re: Vacuume wiper paddle grease?
The only thing that I found worked is a silicone base O ring lubricant. You can buy it at pool outlets. It also depends on what the sealing material on your paddle is. Is it the original leather, rubber based?? Mine is rubber based and the vaseline just go absorbed into the rubber and didn't work that well. I tried various oils as well.

Re: Vacuume wiper paddle grease?
These only apply to replacement wipers with fiber paddles.

I draw Marvel Mystery Oil into the wiper. It makes the wiper work great.

Original paddles were leather however they do wear out and need to be replaced. When they are good, neatsfoot oil is generally used. When I restored my original Roadster wiper and put it on the car I thought it was going to throw the wiper arm and blade right off the car!

Re: Vacuume wiper paddle grease?
I use "vacuum grease" in my windshield wiper and Columbia shifter. Available at most industrial suppliers.

Re: Vacuume wiper paddle grease?
Back in the day, I successfully restored my wiper using a liberal coating of the same stuff that I used to make my hair look like this: Lucky Tiger Hairwax. It seemed just a bit softer than vaseline.

Re: Vacuume wiper paddle grease?
That funny! Of the products I was thinking about when I made my first post, Butch-wax was in the list , Brill-cream although a little dab will do-ya, would be too runny.
