Default Repair Of Electrical Short

After chasing a total dead short in a 1923 for a day and a half, I found a bad ground strap on the battery to the frame.

Replaced it and it worked great.

Sounds like you had the opposite of a total dead short, you had an open circuit.

However you want to word it (I'm not an electrician) I had no power anywhere except at the battery and the battery side of the starter switch..

Short circuit = connection when there is not supposed to be a connection.
Open circuit = no connection when there is supposed to be a connection.
