Default missing holes in block?

I 'm putting my intake on and I realized that I'm missing two bolt holes in my engine block! I've got a 52 Merc block and an Edelbrock manifold and as I went to put it together two of the holes in the block are not there.
I do not want to pull it back out, put it on a stand, turn it upside down so I don't get shavings in the block, drill and tap the holes and start all over again.
So will it be OK if I torque it down as is, and what do I do about filling the holes in the manifold?

Not to worry, just cut a couple bolts short and put in with RTV or similar

Everything is fine. My 8BA has no holes in the block there either. Torque it down and use the short bolt and silicone idea as 4tford suggested to fill the holes. Looks better anyway

up to 1948 the intake manifold and blocks had more bolt holes than newer engines, some hot rod manifolds had the holes drilled, some just had a blank space where the bolts went, unless your looking for an original look dont worry about it

Thanks, I was looking at another 8ba block I have and it has the holes there. So someone must have drilled them, had I known I would have done the same earlier, but I did not really notice it until today.

I have a 39 convertible sedan the oil hole in the block on the drivers side that oils the water pump was never drilled. I figure they broke the drill on the block before mine. Never had a water pump problem but found it when putting Skips pumps on.
I tried to drill the block the same size hole on the same angle and hit water. Plugged the hole and put a gits cap and tube in the pump to lubricate it. G.M.
