Ads in the Swap Meet Section
I've only gone to the swap meet twice, but see there are 338 pages, which would take me all day to go through.
Once a part is sold, don't the ads go away? |

No, the software treats it as any other section of the forum.
How about someone that just finds this site, 916 pages?

Gotta use the search feature, it narrows your list considerably.

Re: Ads in the Swap Meet Section
Most mark as sold when it happens - makes for some tantalizing candy - until you get to the bottom of the thread.
The "forever life" of postings must be a source of annoyance to those who sell but never "shut off" the thread by announcing sale. "Yes, I'm Emailing about your fram-damper?" "Sorry, the fram-damper sold a year ago." And then a week later another Email from someone else. Maybe this encouragement to have sellers mark as "sold?" Joe K

Replies to the post are disabled. Replies are done through PM. (an edit will keep a post active and allows for a SOLD to be added) Unfortunately vBulletin does not offer this setting. When I encounter this I will try to edit the post to add SOLD to my listing title. |

Re: Ads in the Swap Meet Section
I only look at the first page, I figure that anything else. is already sold or not worth the trouble. in most cases if it doesn't sell the owner does back to top of page.

Re: Ads in the Swap Meet Section
Likewise on the value of marking an item sold, though I have gotten PM on stuff marked sold over a year later. Search can be useful though not all sellers use the same terminology, so if you're in need you might need to be creative on nomenclature.
I'm glad that this software doesn't do the automatic listing delete, you never know when a serious buyer will finally be ready to buy what you're offering. E.g. I had a set of aluminum heads listed. Went a couple months with bumps every couple weeks or so.....nary a whimper. Then, within a matter of a couple weeks both sets sold...............you never know when a buyer is going to have that "first day" they're beginning to look. As an occasional buyer I do wish that more sellers would post up pictures.............this site software is so easy for that. Sure, I know what a clabbershackle looks like, but we don't always agree on what "nice" means and a pic would help qualify that.

Re: Ads in the Swap Meet Section
I mark all my items sold after I ship them. I also remove the BTT on current listings when I have 4-6 of them, somehow I think that makes the listing more appealing. Bob
