4 way flasher
when I put my directional signal handle in the up position to turn on right hand turn signal all four turn signal lights flash, as if I were calling for hazzard four way flashing. In down position for left hand signal nothing goes on.
Did the 1951 ford model year have 4 way flasher capability? Could the problem be in the flasher itself? |

Re: 4 way flasher
sounds like a ground problem, make sure all four lights have a perfect ground. good luck, these can be frustrating

Re: 4 way flasher
Could also be something as simple as a bulb with a shorted filament.

Re: 4 way flasher
The flasher either flashes or it doesn't; the problem is in the crossover network in the switch-- probably. I assume you have the original column with an aftermarket clamp on switch assembly. If this is an old unit, you may be able to fix by realigning/cleaning contacts. I don't think it can be a ground feedback. Do both brake lights work?

Re: 4 way flasher
This is all original equipment. Sounds like a short in the switch I guess i'll have to pull steering wheel.

Re: 4 way flasher
I also think you will find a problem in the switch. The attached diagram is for a '56. I using it to install a stock directional switch in my '53. It should be the same for a '50. No guarantees though.
