Default Need fuel tank for 57 Monarch (Mercury)

Patched a hole in the bottom of my tank last summer, and it started leaking a week ago. I've patched it three times, and I'm convinced the so called ethanol resistant repair putty kits they sell just don't last like they used to.

So, I'm on the hunt for a new tank, but no rush as the car is squirrelled away in a shipping container for the winter.

The big question is, does the Spectra Premium F34B tank fit my car? The Monarch is the same as the Mercury, but I cannot find a listing anywhere for the Merc tank. Rockauto has the F34B tank listed for the Fairlane, but not for the Mercury. Does anyone know what the difference is? Is the sending unit hole different?

Tank visually looks the same in the pictures.

Patching a fuel tank is akin to patching a fender with a fiberglass repair kit. Rust is like cancer and needs to be completely cut out. It keeps on eating.

You have either removed or emptied the tank before storing? FUMES/LEAKAGE.

It's the patch that fails, it gets soft again over time. I have a tank on an old VW bug that I patched 30 years ago, still holding. The new stuff is a temp fix.

Car was parked in the container back in September. Checked on it a week ago and it wreaked of fresh fuel, floor was WET. Was still dripping gas. Pumped out as much as I could from the filler neck, and left the container doors open ever since to air out. It's a ten minute drive from where I live and the property is secure so I'm not worried about leaving it open.

Thanks for the ebay link, I'll check with that seller. His measurements match the tank dimensions on Rockauto for the Ford tank.

Does anyone have a parts book for the 57 Mercury and can verify if the tank matches the Ford?

So it looks like the # for a 57 Merc gas tank EXCEPT wagons is - MG-9002-B.

But double check it. Here's a link for the '56-'59 Merc Parts Book:
