Default rear door check strap

I'm upgrading my 1930 deluxe delivery to show at the Northwest regional meet in September. Should the rear door check strap be black or brown?

Hi Glenn,

Very important at a Regional meet -- not an "I think" answer -- sounds like this may qualify for a Mr. Marco response.

The 30 does not have a door check strap...no place in panels for foot loops...31 has a place for the foot loops and I used black to match the inner panels. I can not say for sure on the 29 but would guess it would be brown check strap. Marco might be able to add to this.

It's a late 30. It does have footman loops. I'll make it brown with flexible spray paint, made for vinyl upholstery.

Glenn, you might check Bob Drake's website. He had some chocolate door check straps available, also used on various V-8 models.

These pictures are from a Sep 27,1930 Delx Del Original parts when recently restored, if you notice the panel in the corner where the bracket attaches there is a relief for the bracket. Now I have original parts on my Aug 1930 Delx del that Does Not have the relief so I have to assume that mine does not have the strap being an early production? Do we all agree????The last pic is from my 1930 of Aug DD with No relief for strap????

1 1/4" width leather should be 8.5 in. in length black, almost looks like a good leather belt. Glenn do you have that relief in the corner panel as in the first pictures?

Gary....I have a 30 and a 31 delivery and the 30 does not have a place to put the footman loops but the 31 does. The 30 is a March truck and the 31 is Dec 31. both have the rubber bumper at the bottom of the door and a rubber bumper at the top where the indent is. I also used H rubber on the bottom of the door to seal it like the fronts. good luck

I'm looking forward to seeing your Deluxe there! And many other cars I have seen here in the forum.

We will be in Bend for the ALS walk, so it will be a busy weekend for us!
