Question Heater hose connection

I started adding water to my 1939 Ford Truck radiator which has a heater. I have one heater hose connected to the lower passenger side hose with a nipple that was installed into the rubber hose. I apparently haven't got the connection completely tight as it is leaking slightly. When I take it off and try to tighten it again, is there any kind of sealant that I could use to make it water tight or is there a location on the block that I could connect this hose to (perhaps to the driver side head) and get it away from that lower hose. The other heater hose is connected to a fitting in the passenger side head. Thanks.

You have the correct locations for your heater hoses. For the radiator hose fitting, be sure to cut the hole cleanly, and use Indian Shellac on both inside and outside before installing the fitting on the hose. Tighten securely but not overly so, then after the shellac cures, tighten it a little more.

I use silicon gasket sealer, but like ford38v8, I snug it up and then let the sealant cure and then retighten to make sure it is leak proff

Thanks for your input. I will know tomorrow if I have fixed the leak.
