Default 1948 f1 hood latch

im having trouble lining my hood latch up handle doesnt want to catch mechanism any suggestions first time restoring thanks for any help

Is the male part on the hood lining up with the female receiver? If yes, then maybe the male part needs some adjustment.

actually the cut is about even with mech hieght wise misses mech by 1in dowel pin lines up

I'm guessing front sheetmetal is out of alignment or bent. Hard to tell without pictures of the front clip.
