Default 1950 Ford Heater Switch

Can anyone tell me if you can replace the ceramic coil type resistor found on the 1950 Ford heater switch with a modern transistor type resistor, and if so what vaule does the resistor have to be?

You can contact John Treadway at 419-371-6637. He has a lot of NOS parts for shoebox Fords. He is located in Lima, OH. Sets up at several swap meets. Pat

Not sure what you mean by modern transistor resistor. You can replace it with a resistor that has same ohms value and wattage. I would imagine finding a NOS one would look better. They are ceramic due to the higher wattage value.

Thinking back to 1964 when I owned my shoebox it seem to me the switch would get quite warm in use, I would replace it with a NOS part to reduce the risk of fire.
