Default 34 door latches?

I have this pair of door latches for my car, they fit the doors, (cleaner looking one is pass side, other one is drivers side). Can you spot the difference in them? I didn't until now getting ready to restore them, pass side is "swiss" manufacture and left has no name. Since (you did notice the arms that go up? ) both handles move in opposite directions to open door. One goes forward, the other goes back. What am I missing here? The left one should be correct (right side in picture) I believe, I'll keep looking for a match to one of them but could someone shed some light on this. Is one for a car I don't know about. Thanks, John

To me the one on the left is for the pass door since it has the provision for the keyed door lock cyl.

They are just different manufacturers but are both for a 34 Ford. I have examples of both types in my collection too. I don't know if I have mixmatched extras but will try to look.

There were two styles of the front handle latches where the handle moved in opposite directions for each style. I had not seen center handle latches that worked in a similar fashion.

I didn't want to start another thread so.... anyone that looks here do you know of anywhere to get these thin washers? I took the latches apart and the thin (like spring steel) washers that have little tabs bent over I guess to hold the square handle shaft tighter are pretty worn and the tabs broken off. If you have rebuilt latches before what did you use? Maybe just grease them up good and put'em back or are they really not that necessary? Thanks, John

Hi all; Be carefull with those reverse locking latches! I OPENED a door at 55 thinking I was going to lock it! Held on to the handle and pulled to a stop. Very awakening experience1 Newc

I don't know how many different years used these wear washers in their latches, no vender that I could find make these. I didn't want to keep buying latches to find them. I don't have a lathe so I turned these on my drill-press out of delrin, should last a long time. Old ones on the right.
