Main bearing caps
Just curious,
The main bearing caps on a 50 Ford 8BA I am working on are marked: Rear.......8BA 6325 Middle...7RA 6330B Front.....7RA 6329 All fit and measure to spec.. Just curious on the 7RA? Thanks John |

Re: Main bearing caps
Yes I've noticed allot of AB soup on main caps for years and often wondered why. At first I bore checked everything. Now I just drop in the crank and spin it. Next use plastic gauge and check for size and taper. It won't turn with the wrong cap.

Re: Main bearing caps
I think the 7RA refers to the fact that the engine was introduced in the 1947 for the R series pickup. OOPs, I should have said 1948.
