Default Overdrive Identification

I purchased this overdrive unit this past weekend at a garage sale for $10. The guy said it was out of a 1955 Ford but wasn't for sure. Is this a Ford Overdrive? What would it have been used in?

Thanks!

$10? You are kidding, right? If nothing else is good on it but the solenoid you got a steal. That is a heavy-duty T85 that came behind 312s and FE blocks. I doubt if it is from a '55 though.

The u-joint connects on the output shaft make me think it might be for a truck, but it can be made to work in most anything,

Not Kidding on the $10, what do they usually go for? What years would this overdrive fit on? I wonder if I could install it on one of my cars.

By the short tail shaft and the bolt pattern I would say 1964 and older Ford Van. possibly an Econoline Van.
want to double your money on it?

That transmission may be a bolt in for your 64 Flareside. The long stem in front may have to be shortened a bit.
