Default FORD AOD Transmission Stall Torque Converter

I am looking into a slightly more than stock stall converter for my 1951 ProjectPanel truck, 1973 302, 4V, AOD tranny, 3.50 9" Equa Lock rear. Found a vendor on eBay with excellent feedback, "TORQUE-CONVERTER", web site: http://www.torqueconverter1.com/Home.html. Asked him a question and got a prompt, no BS reply. Anybody out there got anything to say about this outfit? They're in California, so they got to be good, right?.....RooDog in Knoxville, Tennessee

Thanks JeffB2 for the for the input. I looked into that company and they look to be quite OK. And Thank You for a DIRECT LINK to their eBay listing!!!! I see you are in Phoenix, have you used their products? I visited my Dad there in Mesa 'bout 15 years ago....Sure was hot there....Whew...Was glad to get back here to East Tennessee with hills and green colors. Thanks again....RooDog

Very knowledgable people and family owned over the years and lot of locals I know swear by them, used one in a 700R4 and it worked well. My wife is from Newport,TN still has people back there and talks to her sister every day to keep her accent with all the rain and the cold you have there now I am enjoying mid 70's here and this is when we have huge cruise ins and lots of car events.Like these listed here:http://www.arizonaautoscene.com/archives/30582 There is a 302 and AOD from an '84 Mark VII under the hood of my '54

Ouch!! You got me on the weather thing.....Your '54 looks good and the powerpackage sounds like a great driver.
Rented a car in Mesa and drove to Winslow. Wow! what changes in scenery. Like frome Roadrunner & Coyote desert with cactus and balanced bolders to snow still on the ground among pine trees and a babbling brook, and then the L O N G straight drive passing through the prison and on to Winslow. Also went to Tortilla Flats for "The Chilli Your Mother Warned You About". Took a few dollars from the wall there (just kidding).
Your car: Got any suspension or brake upgrades? RooDog

Added Gas shocks, some Energy Suspension upgrades to the sway bar bushings and links.Since the 1954 Ford "back in the day" had the shortest stopping distance in Motor Trend tests I kept it all drum with new parts but added a 1967 Mustang dual master cylinder, the 52-54 Fords actually used the same shoes as 1967-68 Big Block Mustangs for lots of contact area.I am the founder and Moderator of this site since May '09 :http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/g...hp?groupid=332

just a reminder, you want the converter to stall at the rpm of the engine when free way driving, that is if your doing 70 at 2000 rpm thats where you want your converter to stall

Thank you for the generic advice, but just remember the FORD AOD tranny is mechanically locked in 4th gear, overdrive, at least with my mild street setup it is, bypassing the TC's fluid coupling....RooDog

I've spent a lot of time on the interweb looking at converters. Any body got anything to say about the Boss Hog Night Stalker series of converters? Available from eBay, Summit, and locally....
