Re: Thank you Ford Barn - My 33
Sorry Pete, I just put my glasses back on and counted 5 windows. Both the 3 and 5 window coupes look great. In my opinion, they are much better looking that the Australian Coupes?

Re: Thank you Ford Barn - My 33
Here are comparison shots of an Australian 1933 Ford Coupe (top photo) and an American 1933 Ford Five Window Coupe (bottom photo). The American Coupe body has more shape to it. The Doors are not interchangeable between these two cars and the rear side windows are a completely different shape. Notice on the Australian Coupe, there is a false panel above the Running Boards. |

Interesting....Looks like that "false panel" goes around the rear fender as well. Thanks for posting the pictures, mercman

Re: Thank you Ford Barn - My 33
Here are some pictures of a 1934 Ford Coupe Ute. In the lower picture, you can see this open space between the Running Boards and the "D" Molding under the Door. On the Passenger cars, Sedan, Coupe, Roadster and Phaeton, there is a false panel that fills this space. These false panels were not fitted to the Coupe Ute or the Roadster Ute. The reason for this space is because Australian 1933/1934 Fords all have a Wooden Floor about an Inch thick. Rather than having deep doors all the way down to the Running Boards, Ford Australia raised the height of the "D" Molding and used these false panels to fill in the gap. I hope that these pictures help you understand some of the differences on these Australian 1933/1934 Fords. |
