Default One more '36 Pickup

Bought the truck 35+ years ago and tore it apart to have some body work done. Then life went forward and the truck sat in an old barn. Now I'm trying to figure out how some various components bolt together and the rear fenders have me baffled.

The rear of the running boards have a three bolt holes, on 5" centers. The front of the rear fender has two bolt-holes on a 5" pattern and three bolt-holes, located slightly higher, on a 3-1/2" on-center pattern, all going through the fender and attached backing plate. So what are the holes on 3-1/2" centers for? This is an early '36, so perhaps the fenders are designed for both the 1936 and 1935 pickups.

Also, were there any rear fender brackets to support the rear of these fenders? It appears that the rear fenders only bolted to the running board at the front and along the side of the box, with nothing to keep them from twisting. Any photos of the attachment of these fenders would be appreciated.

Thanks

The '36 PU used rear fender braces. Reproduction fender braces are available.
