Wow! That looks familiar. Just like the one that arrived on my front porch the other day. I've been keeping it on the coffee table for people to admire it. I can attest Bubba does nice work.

Not only does it have a good spark gap it also has a loaded neon bulb. I let it run on the bench for some time. Seens to be really accurate as far as coil testing is concerned. |

Do you have a preference for a remote coil kit or a Skip rebuilt original coil? Why?

The coil kits are of varieing quality, some good , some fair etc. But it also leaves the chance of the customer buying a very incorrect ignition coil. Customer will usually go a off shore poorly built chrome low resistance and then cause more problems than ever!!!!!! The story of my life !!! Wrong coil, wrong coil, wrong coil !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Re: 32-41 Helmet Build from Bubbas
I'll have to give Jim a little bit of praise. I sent him 2 Early distributors (a 1934 and a 1940). He rebuilt the 34 using the later 37-48 points and breaker plate. I took the car for a drive this week and ran perfect!

Re: 32-41 Helmet Build from Bubbas
Bubba, at the bottom of your page http://www.bubbasignition.com/crab-42-48.html
Is this correct or around the wrong way ? I thought that turning inward retards the spark ? Note : Typically we ship the crab set at three turns inward on the spring for a light tension on advance ring. Ford suggests driving the vehicle with vacuum hooked up and turn inward until spark knock occurs on a slight load with throttle. Then back adjustment out until it stops. |

Actually turning the adjustment changes the piston spring tension and the setting for the vacuum to allow spark retard... Good catch !!! Thanks .... |
