Default Interesting Comparison

I went to a small monthly car show at the Sea Island Lodge yesterday and drove my 36 Phaeton. Another member brought his 35 Phaeton hot rod and it was interesting to see the differences. His body is a 35 with 36 front sheet metal. He is running a 59AB engine, a 5 speed transmission and a mid 50’s Ford 9 inch rear end. Lowered but not chopped. It’s truly an ‘Open’ car as it has no top. Nice ride but I like mine much more.

Fun story... We were "hosts" for a Rod and Custom Magazine "Americruize". Our tour was from Oregon to Madison Wisconsin via Yellowstone Park among other attractions. One car that showed up, From OHIO, was a 1936 phaeton "rat rod". The body was too far gone for most people to consider restoring, but the owner had replaced the wood with structural steel so everything was safe (at least as safe as a phaeton can be). Two couples, no top, lots of blankets. The chassis was definite street rod and first class.

Anyway, the tour is progressing with lots of participants enjoying. As we go through Yellowstone Park we have oncoming traffic on the roadway which we creep past. A herd of Bison, with a bull that must have been 15 feet tall at the shoulders. No issues, they were going where they were going (they might have appreciated the cars for all I know). The two couples in the phaeton did get to do an up close an personal visual inspection of the undercarriage of the bull!. Fun times.
