37 Bright vineyard green/ Vineyard Green
Does a member have a vehicle painted Bright Vineyard Green that they could post a picture. Also Vineyard Green. I got a sample of BVG it is real dark. I saw a 37 pickup at the Dingman Auction that was BVG but was much lighter, and am trying to figure out if it was painted Vineyard Green. Mac's # for VG RSPD1470, for BVG RSPD 1770. PPG Paint. Thanks Ray

Ray Bright Vineyard Green is a very dark color. Here is a link to a Paint Reference site. Click here: Color Codes - Dupont 225-31626 Cross-Reference

Color is a property of light my friend. Keep this in mind when you carefully choose your color... My 51, is in reality, the meadow green, in two tone.. Bambalino indeed, mrtexas Perhaps, you should study and understand color, and its properties a bit more in depth, before making such banal comments. Funny...perhaps, in some light.... Re: 37 Bright vineyard green/ Vineyard Green
Great comment.
Looking at color chips or pics of peoples paint jobs on a computer is asking for trouble. Even the small paint store chips are decieving. Plus what it looks like inside under artifical light vs outside light is never the same either. My paint store is willing to mix a small batch of paint which I then shoot on an old fender or door. Then you can really tell what the color looks like. Sample usualy runs me around $10.00. |

You are wise to do this. Only someone who doesn't understand color would pick from a computer, a cardboard paint chip, or a rendition that is not true to the primed surface, on which to bond the color. It is then, after spending hundreds, or even, thousands, the buyer's remorse sets in... I say good luck to Ray.. |

Thanks All I got a sample and sprayed a fender. it matches great. As i said, I saw a 37 pickup at the Dingman auction . It was Bright vineyard green, although a lighter shade. I was trying to find out if it could be Vineyard green. I liked the color .

Re: 37 Bright vineyard green/ Vineyard Green
Memories can be a tricky thing. I was sure I registered for a meet last year but hadn't.
I'm assuming this is the truck, it sold for $55,000.: The listing says the truck is "Painted in Vineyard Green, it looks much like the archetypal farm truck or tradesman’s transport." Here's the listing page: http://www.rmauctions.com/lots/lot.cfm?lot_id=1049974 There are about ten photos. -VT/Jeff |

Re: 37 Bright vineyard green/ Vineyard Green
The color on my 51 actually is a bit darker because this photo was taken in the paint booth with full bright lighting. As I stated, color is a property of light, so if we are to photograph in low light, the colors darken, and vice versa. There is no "true" color..only that which presents itself at any given time under the given lighting circumstances...Complicated, I know, but this is why the Impressionaists paintings bring the big bucks.. |

Re: 37 Bright vineyard green/ Vineyard Green
Thanks! The paint, believe it or not, is the same as was used originally, namely alkyd enamel (with an added modern hardener), which is likely no longer available.

Re: 37 Bright vineyard green/ Vineyard Green
Hi Ray,
Love that 37. I had planned Maroon for my 36 but that is sharp. Did you come up with any paint codes? If yes, would you share the numbers please? Thanks, Bruce/CT

Re: 37 Bright vineyard green/ Vineyard Green
I have a '37 Fordor Touring Sedan with the original Vineyard Green paint on it. The car was originally purchased in Spokane and lived there until 3 years ago. The previous owner did some minor paint touchups on it, mostly in the battery area, dash, right front fender and the area directly behind of it. They did a pretty good job of matching the color. The car has just over 60k miles on it and the paint still looks good. As most of the striping is gone I guess that someone probably polished it off.
