Default 32 model B fuel pump

The fuel pump on my 32 Model B has a "T" knob with spring behind it. What is this for? Is it a fuel shut-off, fuel pump drain or a way of regulating pressure, or what else? If it is an adjustable function, how is it adjusted.

From pictures of 4 cylinder pumps for sale, not all of them have this feature.

If it's like the one shown in the photo below, it's to drain the pump's upper chamber.

Thanks David, that's a picture of my pump. Is it correct for my Ford or is it an AC?

Follow Dave's lead, the pump is correct, the winged petcock is used to drain the fuel pump body of water or condensation build up picked up from the tank during operation. Some rebuilt pumps have the petcock some just have a plug. Anyway it's handy to have.

AC was a period supplier of fuel pumps to Ford so either those unmarked and marked AC are correct.

I'm sure I will be corrected if I am wrong but I use the T handle to purge air out of the fuel line before starting in the springtime. Perhaps this only works on models with the under-seat fuel tank!

Lou.....that's an interesting theory and something I'd never considered ! Perhaps negates the need to pour fuel through the plug holes for that springtime start !
