Default split valve guide and valve removal

Is there any method for making sure the flat sides on the split valve guide are in a position that will allow the valve removal tool to slide on and allow the valve guide to be pulled down to extract the valve guide retainer clip other than trial and error? Trial and error and patience is taking the slow way, but maybe that is how it is done.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

A good reason for not using them.

I guess I don't see what is so hard about aligning the flats when you push the guide in.
