Default Canada Bought or Built

The block in my Model A is stamped with *CA 11XXX6*. Does mean My car was originally sold in Canada or just the engine was assembled there? Or maybe it is a replacement engine with the correct number on the title. One of the two previous owners were from Minnesota.

That Canadian engine number only means that the engine is Canadian, IMO.
By the time one of these cars reaches this age, there is a BIG chance that the engine has been changed at some time so the car may not be Canadian. Canadian cars had other differences not seen on American ones. My memory is a bit sketchy but I'm sure if I'm wrong, someone will correct me but the Canadian cars had holes in the chassis to take a RHD steering box and no number stamped on the chassis. Also, if there are any of the original screws still on the car, the Canadian ones used Robertson head screws whereas the American ones used slotted heads.
Hope that helps.

I have a '31 T. S. with a CA preface engine number. Interior trim screws and some exterior screws are Robertson ( square hole ) head. I understand this car was built in Canada.

Other differences between the American and Canadian cars were in the bumper clamps (at least for the 30-31s). The American cars had bumper clamps with recessed painted inserts and no appearance of bolt while the Canadian cars had solid clamps with a carriage style bolt running through the center.

If it helps at all, the partial engine number you've given place it in the March/April 1929 period. What year/model is the vehicle?

If there is still a body number stamped on the left front door sill (subframe) that will tell you if it was built in a Canadian plant.

year is 1929 coupe. It originally came from Michigan. First post was wrong for the location of original owner.
