Uh-umm, rear-end not assembled correct? I've seen it, 3 reverse and 1 forward, believe it or not.

J Franklin beat me to it.
Can you imagine the number of tickets you'd get today trying the same thing.

And just imagine the state of the roads they had to drive on in 1930!
Though, route 66 was only 4 years old at the time.

If one wants to neck pain for the rest of life is certainly good! Those were really tough guys. Incredible!

Interesting , a Missouri plate . Did they drive forward to New York , then go backwards to Los Angeles & back to New York , then home to Missouri ? Still , quite a feat even at that time .

The 29 roadster looks pretty rough for being only one year old. I guess driving backwards is kind of hard on cars!

Tried that in a snow storm in the 70's with a Pontiac tempest that lost all forward gears in the tranny.I got stopped an got a ticket for it. Tried to explain it to NO avail. I was only about 1 mile from home on city streets. I laugh still on that one. ken ct.

I had read about this years ago. For some reason, I thought they had devised a way to face rearward without killing their necks. From the looks of the pictures, they had permanent neck pains. OUCH.

Look at the size of the rearview mirror! They were ahead of their time.
