Default Electric wiper motor mount

My 30 coupe was without a windshield wiper when purchased and I'm preparing to register it. It will be driver, not a points car. It's a 6 volt system which I want to retain.

I'm interested using an electric wiper and have seen mounts installed through the header that allow the windshield to fully open. Can any of you share your experiences, pictures, wiring, model numbers, purchase sources and related for the mount I want to install? Thank you!

Currently, there is only one electric wiper available that is made to install like the types used in 1928, 29, & early 30. Ford went completely to Trico vacuum wipers after that. This link to Snyder's illustrates the only one I know of besides the old originals.

They make them in 6 and 12-volt but there may be a problem getting the 6-volt version.

It has been a long time ago since I re-did my wipers.
I bought 2 motors from one of the A/B parts suppliers and mounted them in the header with a switch alongside one of them. I ran 2 wires up the right doorpost. One hot and one ground. I never use body metal for grounds.
I went to NAPA and thumbed through the wiper arm catalog till I found the right length and mounting end that used a modern high pressure type arm and blade.

This is important because the arms that were intended to be used with these motors were useless junk.

EA labs made replacement motors that would fit the Model A clear up into the late 60s or early 70s but eventually they disappeared. My old 29 had one but it finally died. I still debate whether to try to make my own out of a usable small unit such as those that are currently available or keep looking for a good original. The Trico vacuum units have their own operational problems due to vacuum fluctuation during normal operation.

The early model A commercial pickups mostly had the hand operated wiper.

Thank you all for your comments. The 6Volt unit that mounts on the inside and allows the windshield to open isn't available, and if it was, it's just too darn expensive. The unit I saw, and now cannot locate the picture, was quite a bit less expensive and mounted on the inside through the header. The arm worked perfectly and the windshield as 100% operable. Do any of you have any pics of the mount I described? Please share along w/your wiring, wiper arm length, etc.

Have you considered using one of these kits? Might not be exactly what you're looking for, but it's priced right and available...

Has anyone used the 12v one from Snyders? I have a '29 Tudor. Images of the install would also be nice. I have the Vacuum one and it doesn't work.

Thanks

Dave

Have one rotorwrench described from Snyders on my 30 coupe. Looks good and window opens, even though I dont drive in the rain on purpose. Meets state standards.

Pretty easy install? remove and replace the Vacuum one?

Thank you all for your comments. As to the 6 V outside mount being referenced from Snyder's and other suppliers, they all report out of stock. I'll purchase the unit McGarrett shared in #6 and try to install on the inside through the header as I want the windshield fully operable.

Canton A, thank you for your comment. The wiper motor in post 2 is 12 volt and I need a 6 volt unit which, in the configuration of the Snyder's part, is not available from them or other suppliers. Plus, it's about 5 times the price of other units.

Ah, no worries, my '29 was converted to 12v so that option appears the most appealing to me. My vacuum one doesn't work, or works when it wants to. I thought about rebuilding it but lack the skills and/or tools to do it.

Not cheap, not original, but absolutely works!
