Default window wiskers

getting ready to put the windows in my 46 coupe, and need to put the window wiskers in. do i have to use the screws and staples provided or can i use 3m yellow super weatherstrip adhesive instead. i don't want to scratch the glass if there is a better way. thanks

We use small filister head sheet metal screws tightened so the heads are embedded in the strip. I have yet to scratch the glass.

All I can say is, if you use the screws, be SURE the heads are embedded well below the surface of the whiskers. Don't ask me how I know this.

I use the glue and it works well.

I just did my 46 merc and used 3M black weatherstrip cement,i used small plastic clamps to hold in place until dry,very strong bond,the hardest part was removing the factory staples

I have used the screws and a small pop rivet both work , like the screws best as the others say make sure they are in ! Laurie

Macs used to sell black screws. On tri 5 Chevys I use #4 Phillips head screws. They are small and embed deep into the feather strip. Not scratched a glass yet with these.
