Default Yransmission help

Hi Guys, Have this RTS 3 sp w/OD and can't get the shift cover off the trans to install it into the truck. Have it bolted on the engine and would like to put it in but the stick is in the way. Is there a way to rempve just the stick? I have all the bolts off the cover nad tried to pry it of like an old ford box bit I'm afraid to brake it. Thanks

If you just need the lever off ,un screw the retaining cap and it pulls out, as does mine. Laurie

Mine too. I put mine in neutral, then unscrew the lever. It's hard to get back in if not in neutral. If you take the whole top off it's best in 2nd as someone else said.
