Default 56 Lincoln

Yes I know its not a ford but I thought I would give it a shot. The car has been sitting 30 plus years it runs great but the trans leaks from around the converter. Its a 3 spd auto. I have heard these are a nightmare. Can anyone give me some guidence on how tought the seal is to change?

As far as servicing the front pump seal, it is no different than a Ford-o-Matic

If the converter is bolted together rather than a welded one, there are seals in the converter itself. One is a large square section O ring type seal around the area of the bolts. Some also have a bolt in pump hub which has a similar seal. Be sure to replace these while it is apart. John

I pulled the motor and trans. converter looks great. It looks like the leak is from the seal behind it

As long as its all apart anyway, replace all the seals you can find. After all the work of getting it apart, they get real cheap.
