Ford script on generator
I picked up a generator and after cleaning it I found a Ford script.
Is it rare to have a ford script on a generator? And what do the numbers mean? |

Re: Ford script on generator
I'm wondering if it's a N tractor generator? My 1950 8N has Ford script on the barrel.
I'm with SS, a full view photo will help answer you question.

Am i correct in saying a model A generator never had wires coming out of the case? They always had a stud?

Re: Ford script on generator
The chamfered aluminum front and back plates were 1933-34 or newer (where they were supplied as a service part).

One to ground and one to the cutout.

Re: Ford script on generator
Someone used a starter band on your generator. Generator bands don't have the notch cut in the edge. From the looks of the missing insulation, you better check the wires inside the generator also. The wire that leads to the field winding is the one that gets mounted under the cutout mounting screw. The other wire goes to the cutout input terminal.
Liquid Tape makes for good repairs for missing insulation, if too much isn't missing. |
