Re: Drake's 39 pedal assembly
Matt, as you know, I'm studying this brake stuff real hard right now. There is a thread somewhere that discusses single vs. dual that is very good info. The consensus on that thread was that a dual was definitely safer IF and only IF it is properly configured. I'll try to find that thread and send it to you.
Also, I might add that a dual master being safer also means adding a booster gets way more complicated should you decide to try that.

Re: Drake's 39 pedal assembly
I have been told the Feds outlawed single reservoir master cylinders in the 70's. The weird thing is that NSRA still allows them in their safety 23 inspection. Go with the dual reservoir system, don't take a chance. Master Power Brakes, 888-251-2352 can give you any MC you need and great brake system advice.

Re: Drake's 39 pedal assembly
It's a hot rod. Everything is about risk. Check it, inspect it, and forget it. If a single works without too much hassle, throw it in there. If you can fit a dual without too much hassle, may be good insurance. I wouldn't stress too much about it.
Just b/c it's a dual system, doesn't mean it works all the time. Anyone remember Audi's from the '80's? |

Re: Drake's 39 pedal assembly
Yes dual output, no equalizer was needed, MC was drum/drum set up. Zeke

Re: Drake's 39 pedal assembly
Post #17 above talks about the pedals being cast or forged. Does anyone know for sure whether they are forged? Or cast?

Re: Drake's 39 pedal assembly
Matt, this is the old thread I was speaking of. It has some good info about the workings of a dual master and how to set it up.

Re: Drake's 39 pedal assembly
Cast pedals versus forged - does it matter on a street car?
Is the quality of the reproduction pedals good enough to trust your life? |

QUOTE] As was noted earlier, if a guy needs to heat, bend and fine-tune the fit of one or both of the pedals on an original forged steel set (which guys do frequently with original '39 pedal sets in NON-'39 cars), that would not be possible with CAST pedals...that's why it matters. DD |

Re: Drake's 39 pedal assembly
Bending pedals is not an concern for me as I bought a 39 frame missing the pedals.
Surely someone has actually bought the repros and has an opinion and/or first hand knowledge if they are indeed cast? |

Inquiring minds... our pedal arms are forged.
