We had an Almquist slingshot y adapter on our 32 and found fuel pooling in the ends of some runners. It's now gone and an Eddie Meyer twin in its place , the slingshot looked fast but didn't perform as well as a better designed twin carb manifold.
What makes you think this is just an adapter? It is a complete Edelbrock intake.

Thanks, Talkrench. I contacted JWL, and have ordered his book.

Keep in mind that the quoted article was delivered to Hot Rod by a seller of certain intakes and could have been stacked in favor of their product. Just a way that business is done. I chose the slingshot because of the split plenum, allowing me to try progressive linkage on a two carb setup. The manifolds rated lowest have been the most forgiving and easiest to setup for smooth operation in my application. Be skeptical. Fred A

"Be skeptical" There were 4 brands of manifolds, Edelbrock, Offenhauser, Thickston supplied by Baron Racing Equipment, and Navarro supplied by H&H Flatheads. So who is the certain seller you are referring to.

I've read that article, and it doesn't promote a particular brand. If I recall correctly an offy one the 4bbl test, edelbrock the twin carb and Navarro the triple. Their were bits in the test I didn't think was the best way of doing it. That's my opinion. But it defiantly didn't favour a particular brand.
And Gene, thanks for the confirmation of your manifold, I thunk it was an Edelbrock, but it wasn't that clear in the first pic.
Have you compared it with other manifolds except the original single? How does he perform low down the revs against a single? It looks like it would have good low down torque like a pm7 but also more up top than the pm7. That's what the dyno in that article said. But dyno's and pants seat don't always agree. Be good to here from you.
Damn nice car you got there.
Martin.

H&H cleverly done. I wonder if Motor Mag writers do their own work or accept packaged articles from the industry? Putting my money on JWL and happy for it. Your mileage may vary. Fred A

Can someone put up a link to that article, I have seen it but cant find it now.

Quick question, How does a twin carb effect bottom end power?

Just an FYI, I bought the Edelbrock 1103 slingshot after much research. I can't remember all the facts but read that it was second place as for performance and the first place was another brand but you had to run offset generator. That was not an option for me as I like the looks of the generator front and center.
Check all suppliers prices and then contact Summit, they beat everones price, If memory serves me correct I paid $284 or $384.
Also, you will have to use an allenhead bolt on the driver side behind the radiator hose. Good luck

Does anyone with this set-up have a picture of the linkage?
Thank you,
Joe

I made my own and left the rod long in case I wanted progressive. (didn't need it) The spring in the center is just for looks.

Default Yes and Not Really

[QUOTE=machine girl;860376]progressive not needed and no advantage on those 2 carb setups .[/QUOTE

The split plenum on the Slingshot functions well with two, one, progressive and has been popular for 4bbl use. Had the latter but lacked the look that I was after. Absolutes can be a problem.
Forgot to mention supercharger. Good Luck: Fred A

OK, so the install is complete! I fired it up today and tuned the carbs with a uni-syn and an air fuel meter. I took it around the block and it ran fine. There was no hesitation when I got on the throttle but I really didn't mash it to hard. I'll try to get it out on the highway tomorrow to see if there's any notable difference. I'm really interested to see what the gas mileage will be like.
Thanks for the input,
Joe

Interested in hearing your experience on off the line acceleration and responsiveness at speed - I am considering adding a Slingshot to my 59A.

Well I just took a ride around town & on the highway and I have to say there's definitely a difference in performance! I notice it from 1st gear to 5th.
I can really feel the difference when I'm cruising in 3rd gear at about 35 mph & I mash the throttle. It takes off much quicker than it used to! Overall it's a worthwhile upgrade as far as I'm concerned!!
