Default 29 roadster glass bumper local plus Rocky type brake drums

When sand blasting the panel there were three holes grouped very close together for the little rubber bumpers used to support the glass when top is down. Can someone provide the distance between these bumpers from front to back of car. The two nearest the deck lid are original so width is set but had to weld three front holes. A mess hidden by body mud.
Next question came across a pair of rocky front brake drums cast type. Currently my roadster front brake drums are original the steel type. Should I buy these to replace the steel type. They are complete bearing etc. Will these improve brake effort stopping power? Cheaper than Walmart.

Measure them before you buy. 11.060 max if they are installed on hubs and have been turned (11.060 is MAX and you cannot turn them again). If they measure 12 inches they are '32 and up drums.

Charlie if they measure within specification would it be worth the effort to change for stopping power are the rocky type better.

I hope someone responds to this that has used both. I have had pressed steel drums with reinforcing bands for the last 20 years (I don't drive much) and no experience to compare the two. The rocky mountain type is definitely better but if it is worth the change I cannot say. A lot would depend on what the two drums are like. Again, be sure they are not the later 12 inch drums.

From what I remember there should be 4 holes for the rubber pieces on the upper panel. I don't have any measurements handy, but I'm sure someone will come along that does.

Luke let me clarify there were three holes grouped so close together they almost overlapped one other, both holes to the front of vehicle so close I just welded them all because I could not decide what were original holes for a total of six three per side. Strange

The rocky mountain drums would be a good upgrade. I have both types on different vehicles.

You could always wait to drill the holes, until after the paint job, and line up the bumpers with your window glass, that way you are assured of a good fit. If the installed window is off a little, you still want the bumpers to work. I also found that there is two types od bumpers available when I did mine, the ones with studs and nuts, and the solid rubber kind that just pull through the hole, and they lock in place. Jim

I have a 29 roadster with the rubber bumpers installed for the glass in the top. I am leaving the office before long and will measure the locations. It will be late this evening before I can post the results.

If you have the backing plates, and the shoes, you can install the 32 drums on a Model A. The rest if the parts, except the actuater pins, are the same I think...

I measured the rubber bumpers from the edge of the panel to the center of the bumper. I didn't want to pry the bumpers from the panel. By the edge of the panel I mean from the edge of the opening for the trunk or rumble seat lid. I did not include the water channel. The forward bumpers are 7 inches from the edge. The rear bumpers are 2 3/8 from the edge. The bumpers are 14 inches left to right and of course they are centered.
