Default New Wood Floor Board Finish

What's best to put on new wood floorboards to preserve them.

Ken, I Linseed oiled all the wood in my 39 except for the bed wood that will really show. Two coats of linseed should do the trick, thinking you will have a floor mat over it anyway.

if you want authenticity Roy Nacewicz has formulated the correct wood stain to simulate the original Ford finish as it was originally applied by Ford on the wooden floor boards at the factory.

I used MinWax wood stain for my ’36 floorboards and package tray.
(Ebony 2718) 1/2 pt, $7.00 at Ace, it penetrates, stains and seals!
Two coats and it really soaked it up!

I just used black tractor paint as perfect authenticity was not important to me. It's cheap and provided a nice, durable finish.

Ken, I also use Ebony stain, two coats. It mimics the factory applied "gook" quite well.

MinWax Classic Black Satin. It may be the same as the Ebony.
