Default Fitchburg V8 Show

Went to Fitchburg Early V8 show. First time in 4 years.Great first show of the season. Am always on the lookout for 39 Ford parts for my long dormant dump truck. Gotta make some progress this year. Don't need a grill but if I did there was a really nice one that appeared as new for $600. Lots better and less expensive that what I've seen lately on Ebay. At least 3 35 Ford grills. All nice. Didn't check the prices. Seems like parts price trends are up but these regional shows always yield some surprises. Didn't see Joe's Antique Auto trailer. Maybe they were at Epping? Had a list of small parts that I needed. Oh well, Uxbridge is only 50 miles from home. Will be a nice day destination. Oh one other thing, lots of empty swap spaces. Is that a trend?

My self and a neighbor friend also attended and were at the entrance gate at 2 minutes of eight. Some difference from two years ago when we had bad luck on the way and never got there till most guys were picking up to head out. Anyway, I was rather disappointed to not find a thing reasonably priced than I had in mind. I had in mind finding a 32 grill outer shell just for a wall hanger for the insert I now have, saw two plastics and one steel with the tops of the bars all broken for a mere $1700.00 ! Must have been Henry's last one out of the factory ? Ford Motor produced in excess of 342,418 domestic cars for the year, why are grills the same price as an ounce of 24 carat gold now ? Got 1 you will sell me at decent price ?

Hey Bob, no 32 stuff in my stash. I stick to trucks. Didn't see anything Sunday that I just had to have. Interesting take on the price of 32 parts. A grill for an ounce of gold. Wow. From what I see of the posts on the barn, losts of stuff in California and Florida as well as the mid west. Guess all of our stuff got rusted out here in New England. Used to find most interesting stuff at Amherst. Don't know about Epping. Got to get up there this year.

Really need a decent 38-39 cab.

Thanks for your post ML

Why are 32’ Grill Shells the same price as as an ounce of 24 Carot now ?
Why, maybe something to do with you olde time Frd guys ?
That started hoarding “Wall Hangers” , 30, 40 ,50 years ago.
I know of a couple dozen that have been hanging in garages for ever.
Guys had a 32’
Guys wanted a 32’
Guys never going to have a 32’
Guys still looking for a 32’.
Geez
Than can sit and tell the history of a shell & insert in detail.
But can’t remember their Grandkids names

Monthly Swap Meets From April - November

New England Dragway’s Swap Meet/Flea Market enjoyed record turnouts in 2023, and expects to surpass those numbers in 2024! This year’s schedule still features the program to continue on the last Sunday of each month; with several coinciding with the track’s popular nostalgia series. Everything from hard to find tools, vintage automotive parts, and everyday shop items can be found at what has become the region’s premier showcase for vendors.

As in previous years, parking remains free and there is no charge for buyers. Vendor fees will remain the same as 2022 (Cash Only). Spaces range from $30 - $50 based on the Truck/Trailer size.

2024 Calendar:
April 28
May 26
June 30
July 28
August 25
Sept. 22* (Not the last Sunday of the month due to other event)
Oct. 27
Nov. 10

Gates Open @ 5AM
Vendors ---> $30-$50(Cash Only - No Pre-Registration Required)
Buyers/Spectators ---> Free!

Thank you Pete for your information about Epping. I remember Amherst, NH on the last Sunday of the month from many years ago. There was a gas station on rte 101 on the way to Amherst that also had a restaurant in it. The sign on the roof said: "Eat here and get gas." I never stopped!
