Default 1931 Steelback Victoria 2013 Lexington MARC of Originality Winner

City: Ann Arbor
State: MI
Price: SOLD

SOLD SOLD SOLD
This is a really special and rare 1931 Model A Steelback Victoria. It was sold new in Lowell, Mass. The second owner bought the car in the 1960s and drove it to western Michigan where it was sold to its first collector, Ernie and Wilma Smith around 1970. When the Smiths discovered the car, it was a great original car. The paint on the fenders was showing some wear as was the chrome on the bumpers. They repainted the fenders and re-chromed the bumpers and continued to carefully maintain and use the car and drove it to the 1972 and 1972 MARC National Meets. The car was once again put in long term storage and by 2000 had passed through the hands of a few more Model A collectors who were respectful of the car's originality and continued to maintain and preserve it. According to records, the original engine was rebuilt around 1998. Most recently, the car was shown at the 2013 MARC Lexington National Meet where it was given the MARC of Originality Award and judged 388 points-a testament to the car's originality and correctness. Today, the car is a great example of how a Model A was originally built and how a Model A originally looked. The alignment of the doors and hood is better than most restored cars. The body has never had an ounce of rust anywhere. The all black body paint is original and excellent. The apple green striping is very intact and clear. The top insert is original and there are no signs of leakage anywhere. The interior is absolutely amazing. Other than the front floor mat, the interior is all original. The seats, including the driver's seat are excellent as are the door panels, side panels, headliner, rear curtain and visors. According to records, one rear glass was replaced but the other glass is all original and very clear. The woodgraining is absolutely amazing on both the dash rail and garnish moldings. The stainless is excellent including the radiator and lights. The running boards retain their original covers which show only light wear and the door sills are excellent. The car runs amazing. The engine is probably one of the quietest Model A engines I have heard. The transmission and clutch are smooth. The rear end quiet. The steering and suspension are tight. The car is an absolute pleasure to drive and is absent of rattles, creaks, and groans. The chassis and floor pans retain most of their original paint. Recently, car has been mechanically serviced including new tires, etc. Of course, this car has all of its correct parts including horn, pop out switch, metal valve stems, shock absorbers, etc and a few neat accessories such as a heater, dual wipers, dual tail lamps and rear tire guard. It retains its original body plate. This is a great opportunity to purchase a rare and desirable Model A with a great history. The engine number is A4616329 and the body number is 190A-36249. The price is 26,500.00 and the car is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Please call 734-730-4274 or email: [email protected] to schedule a viewing or for more information. Thank you.
