Default I'm thinking of buying another A

It has some interesting old school hotrod gear on it. It intrigues me and scares me both. You don't run over to the local parts store and get Riley OHV parts.
What should I be looking for on this thing?

Amazes me the old blocks can take the extra stress and heat when modified to that level.

Head gasket, head gasket, HEAD GASKET!!!
When this one blows - and it will - replace it with a solid copper gasket. It may seep a little coolant along the sides, but it won't blow out like those worthless toilet paper strength Drabula Riley gaskets do. I went through FOUR of those before finally installing a solid copper head gasket, even though the block and head were level. That stopped blown head gaskets. Hopefully the Riley Two-Port on your engine is the 6:1 CR version, not the 7:1. The 6:1 head doesn't seem to be as hard on gaskets as the 7:1.
To coin a phrase: 'Been there, done that.

A lot of fun!!! Go for it. The days, weeks and years go by, a way too fast.

That is a late "Riley" by Charlie Yapp. Doesn't make much difference as, like you say, you can't get parts for them at your local parts store, however parts are available. You will enjoy the added power. The extra heat on an F-head engine won't be a problem unless you flog it unmercifully.

Yes, I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but as I've found over the last few months, that doesn't mean I know "how" to work on the Model A. Learning can be fun and frustrating at the same time... kinda like being married!
The engine is a Model B "it is .60 over with full pressure oiling, insert rods and mains, counter balanced crank, and a Winfield cam". BTW, thanks to all on Ford Barn that are so willing to provide the info to make it less frustrating than it would be otherwise.

This thing is so cute... you just want to give it a big hug. Fiberglass body BTW.

Awe geeez, Art. If you do buy that thing, I live close enough that I'm sure I could talk you into taking me for a ride - then I'm going to want another A myself, and I'm pretty much out of parking space!

So I would say most definitely do it!

Very cool looking car.

Art, Charlie Yapp did several upgrades on these heads during production. There is a number stamped up by the water outlet above the water pump. Check this number and
Charlie can tell you when in production it was made and what upgrades it has had or
what it needs to be upgraded. One of the upgrades took care of the head gasket problem.

At the very least we need to swap rides in the cars we already have!

This is great info, thanks. Supposedly the head is a recent rebuild 300 miles ago.

With a Fiberglas body the price goes way down! You would have a problem if you tried to resell it! Wayne
